Finch Employment

Finance, real estate & crypto recruitmentCrypto and blockchain recruitment in Toronto and across Canada

Finch helps crypto platforms, Web3 builders and financial firms hire engineering, security, compliance, trading and growth talent who already understand how digital asset businesses work.

Crypto and blockchain hiring rewards specialists and punishes guesswork. A polished résumé can hide a candidate who has only experimented on test networks, while the people you actually want have shipped production contracts, handled live customer funds or built compliance programs under regulatory scrutiny. Many of them work remotely, follow the market closely and judge an employer by its technical credibility, its approach to regulation and how clearly it explains its product.

Finch Employment runs retainer searches for crypto and blockchain employers in Toronto, across the GTA and elsewhere in Canada, with national searches handled by phone and video from our North York office. We begin with a consultation about your product, your regulatory position and the team you are building. We then advertise, source and screen candidates, deliver a shortlist of suitable people, arrange the interviews and follow up after the start date.

Why crypto hiring needs a specialist

Titles such as blockchain engineer, protocol developer and Web3 developer are used loosely, so two candidates with the same title can bring very different depth of experience.

Canadian rules for crypto trading platforms and virtual currency dealers keep developing, and compliance hires must understand both securities registration and anti-money laundering obligations.

Security mistakes in smart contracts and wallet infrastructure can be costly and very public, which makes technical screening for developers and auditors more important than in most fields.

Experienced candidates often work remotely for global projects, so a Canadian employer must make a clear case about its product, stability and regulatory standing to attract them.

How we screen crypto & blockchain candidates

  • Production experience with the chains, languages and tools you use, discussed project by project rather than taken from a résumé
  • Security habits, including code review, testing, key management and how the candidate handled past incidents
  • Familiarity with Canadian regulatory expectations relevant to the role, such as FINTRAC obligations or securities registration terms
  • Judgement and conduct around personal trading, conflicts of interest and confidential information
  • Eligibility to work in Canada, location and fit with your remote, hybrid or on-site arrangement

Crypto & blockchain recruitment: questions employers ask

Do you recruit crypto candidates from outside Canada?

No. Finch only recruits candidates who are already eligible to work in Canada, and we do not arrange immigration or work permits. Within that group, we search nationally. Many crypto roles are remote or hybrid, so we confirm your location and time zone requirements during the consultation and screen every candidate against them.

Can you help if our business is still working through registration?

Yes. Many employers hire compliance, product and engineering staff while they work through registration with securities regulators or FINTRAC. We do not give legal or regulatory advice, but we can screen candidates for direct experience with the obligations you describe, such as know-your-client programs, transaction reporting or operating under platform registration terms.

How do fees work for crypto and blockchain searches?

Finch works on a retainer basis only. Each fee is agreed per position and reflects its requirements, such as seniority, technical specialization and how scarce the skills are. You pay the retainer up front to start the search, and we set out what it includes during the consultation so the scope is clear from day one.
