Finch Employment

York Region recruitmentVaughan recruitment agency for plants, builders and clinics

Finch recruits skilled professionals for Vaughan employers, from the Concord industrial district to the new downtown at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. Our North York office sits just south of the city line at Steeles Avenue.

Production worker inspecting parts on a manufacturing line

Vaughan is the York Region city closest to our office. Alness Street, where we are based, continues north across Steeles Avenue into Vaughan, and the land on the far side of Steeles is Concord, the city's main industrial district. Concord stretches from Dufferin Street west to Highway 400 and north to Rutherford Road, with Highway 7 and Highway 407 cutting through it. Further west and north are Woodbridge, Maple, Kleinburg and the Vaughan side of Thornhill, each with its own mix of family-run firms, professional offices and service businesses.

The city's employer base leans toward making, building and moving goods. Vaughan manufacturers produce windows, doors and aluminum products, extruded plastics, furniture, baked goods and auto parts, and the building-materials firms work hand in hand with the contractors and developers active across the city. Meanwhile a new downtown is taking shape around the subway at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital has brought a major hospital employer to the north end. Finch recruits the supervisors, engineers, estimators, nurses and office professionals these employers need, rather than general labour.

Local hiring

Who's hiring in Vaughan

Concord plants and building products

Manufacturers between Dufferin Street and Highway 400 make windows, doors, aluminum products, plastics and furniture, often across more than one shift. These employers typically hire production supervisors, plant managers, CNC machinists and quality leads who can read a drawing and run a line. We screen for the specific equipment and quality system each candidate has worked with, not just the title on their resume.

Builders and contractors

Construction has been steady in Vaughan for years, and the general contractors, trade firms and developers based here compete for the same site supervisors, estimators and construction project managers. We look for Ontario site experience, current Working at Heights and supervisor health and safety training, and for licensed trades, a valid Skilled Trades Ontario certificate of qualification such as 309A for electricians.

Distribution along the 400 and 407

Highway 400, Highway 407 and the city's rail yards and intermodal terminals make Vaughan a natural base for warehousing and wholesale distribution. Employers here hire logistics coordinators, dispatchers, purchasing managers and import and export coordinators who can keep stock moving between sites. Where a role involves driving, we confirm the right Ontario licence class and ask for a current driver's abstract.

Healthcare at Jane and Major Mackenzie

Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital opened in 2021 at Jane Street and Major Mackenzie Drive, beside Canada's Wonderland, and York University is planning a School of Medicine focused on family medicine next door. Family practices and walk-in clinics in Maple and Woodbridge now recruit nurses, physicians and front-office staff with a hospital down the road. We confirm College of Nurses of Ontario or CPSO registration before you interview anyone.

Working with Finch from just south of Steeles

Because our office at 920 Alness Street is a short drive south of Steeles Avenue, a meeting at your plant in Concord or your site trailer in Woodbridge is easy to arrange by appointment, and you are welcome to visit us instead. If you prefer, the first consultation can happen by phone or video. Either way, we want to understand how the role works in practice: the shift pattern, the equipment, the reporting line and why the last person left.

Once the retainer is in place, we write the posting, advertise it and approach people already doing the job at other plants, contractors and clinics. Every candidate is screened for skills, references and eligibility to work in Canada, and for commute, since many Vaughan workplaces are easiest to reach by car. Transit riders can use Line 1 to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre or the Barrie line GO stations at Maple and Rutherford. We book the interviews and check in after the start date.

Recruiting in Vaughan: common questions

Is Finch an employment agency?

Finch Employment is a recruitment agency. Vaughan employers retain us to find, screen and shortlist candidates for professional and skilled roles, and the fee for each position is agreed before the search starts. Candidates never pay us anything. We do not recruit foreign nationals or arrange immigration; everyone we present is already eligible to work in Canada.

Can you recruit construction staff for projects around Vaughan Metropolitan Centre?

Yes. We recruit site supervisors, foremen, estimators and construction project managers for contractors building in and around VMC and elsewhere in Vaughan. We check Ontario site experience, health and safety training and, for licensed trades, the Skilled Trades Ontario certificate, and we look for people who can coordinate subtrades on a tight urban site next to an active transit hub.

Do you work with food and bakery manufacturers in Vaughan?

Yes. Food and beverage producers in Vaughan hire production supervisors, quality assurance managers and millwrights who understand food safety programs such as HACCP. During screening we ask about sanitation routines, allergen control and third-party audit experience, so the people you interview have already worked under the discipline a regulated food plant demands.
