Skilled trades & industrial recruitmentElectrician recruitment in Toronto and the GTA

From construction and maintenance electricians to industrial specialists and apprentices, Finch finds qualified electrical talent for GTA employers.

Licensed electrician wiring a commercial electrical panel

Electrical work in Ontario is tightly regulated, and for good reason. The people you hire need the right certificate of qualification for the work, a solid grasp of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and the judgment to work safely around energized equipment. Finch Employment recruits electricians for electrical contractors, manufacturers, property managers and facilities teams across Toronto and the GTA, matching each search to the type of electrical work you actually do.

Our process starts with a consultation about your projects, equipment and the certificate the role requires. Once the retainer is in place, we advertise, source and screen candidates, confirm their Skilled Trades Ontario status and arrange interviews with a shortlist of suitable people. You spend your time on the final conversations instead of sorting through applicants who do not hold the qualifications your work demands.

Why hiring electricians takes a specialist

Construction, industrial and maintenance electrical work call for different certificates, such as 309A or 442A, and the wrong match can stall a project.

Certified electricians are in steady demand, so strong candidates are usually employed and need to be approached with a role worth considering.

Claims about panel upgrades, PLC troubleshooting or controls experience are hard to judge from a resume without a proper technical conversation.

Apprentices need a sponsor and supervision, so hiring one means finding someone committed to the trade who fits well with your certified electricians.

How we screen electrical candidates

  • Skilled Trades Ontario certificate of qualification or apprenticeship status
  • Experience in construction, industrial, commercial or residential electrical work
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
  • Safety practices, including lockout and tagout and arc flash awareness
  • References from supervisors who have seen the candidate's work

Electrical recruitment: questions employers ask

What is the difference between a 309A and a 442A electrician?

A 309A Electrician – Construction and Maintenance works on wiring and electrical systems in new builds, renovations and existing buildings, and it is a compulsory trade in Ontario. A 442A Industrial Electrician focuses on industrial plants, motors, controls and production equipment. We help you decide which certificate fits your work during the consultation.

Do you recruit electrical apprentices?

Yes. Many employers want to grow their own team by sponsoring apprentices. We screen apprentice candidates for genuine interest in the trade, any in-school training or hours already completed, and reliability. You remain responsible for supervision and the apprenticeship arrangement, and we can talk through what support the candidate will need.

Does Finch confirm an electrician's certificate?

We ask every candidate for their certificate of qualification or apprenticeship details and review them before the shortlist. Skilled Trades Ontario also maintains a public register you can check yourself. If a candidate's status is unclear or expired, we tell you rather than leave it for you to discover after the interview.
